Walmer High School, founded in 1991, is the only high school in the township. All of Walmer High’s 1,400 students primarily speak Xhosa at home, while English and Afrikaans language ability greatly vary. The school currently fields a competitive cricket team, and has an acting club and school paper. In the past, Izizwe volunteers helped repair debilitated classrooms. Currently, volunteers have helped start a physical education program after-school, and will help establish boys and girls soccer teams within the ages of U18, U16 and U14.

As a volunteer, you will be assisting with the Basketball Program we run at the high school. We also run a CV & Interview training at our ‘container office’, where kids from the high school (grade 11) can take part in.
